The use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in health laboratories is an important measure to prevent biological, chemical, physical, and ergonomic hazards. This literature review aimed to analyze determinants of PPE compliance among laboratory personnel. The study used a narrative literature review with a descriptive approach. Articles were identified from relevant scientific publications concerning PPE, occupational safety and health, laboratory personnel, knowledge, training, supervision, and safety culture. Data were collected through document review and analyzed using thematic synthesis. The review found that PPE compliance was influenced by knowledge, attitudes, risk perception, age, education, length of service, PPE availability and comfort, training, supervision, institutional policy, and safety culture. Several studies showed that knowledge, age, or training did not always have a significant relationship with compliance. Therefore, improving compliance requires a supportive work system, routine supervision, standardized PPE, and a strong occupational safety and health culture
