Factors Associated with Adolescent Reproductive Health Knowledge

Adolescent reproductive health is an important component of adolescent well-being because it encompasses physical, mental, and social aspects. Adequate knowledge helps adolescents understand puberty, personal hygiene, healthy relationships, and the prevention of risky sexual behavior. This study aimed to review factors associated with adolescent reproductive health knowledge. A literature review design was used. Articles were searched through Google Scholar and Scopus using the keywords adolescent reproductive health, reproductive health knowledge, and junior high school adolescents. The inclusion criteria were studies involving adolescents, discussing reproductive health, and published from 2015 to 2025. Of 20 identified articles, 10 met the eligibility criteria and were analyzed. The review showed that reproductive health education, audiovisual media, learning applications, animated videos, personal hygiene knowledge, school support, parental involvement, and health worker participation were associated with better reproductive health knowledge among adolescents. Most studies reported improved knowledge following education or health-promotion interventions. In conclusion, adolescent reproductive health knowledge can be improved through structured, engaging, age-appropriate education supported by schools, families, peers, and health services.
